I've just got back from my first outing with a Vango Diablo 900 and it was a positive experience. Two little points that may be of use to newbe's
1. I bought a 3m by 3m garden gazebo from my local camping shop (£24)and used this as a kitchen come dinning room having enclosed two sides with 2 windbreaks. Fantastic if you've got a family to feed.
2. I bought some of those metal stakes that you see supporting the orange netting around roadworks, they look like long y's. I got them from my local building supplier, cheap and fantastic for hanging lanterns from.
Glad your first trip went well. The tips are really useful, although there are some sites that don't allow gazebos. Make sure you ring and check before you go.
No on this occassion I wsasn't charged any extra. The site was Manor Court Farm in East Sussex. A very good site, read the + reviews. Even if you have to pay to pitch it, I'd do it again. With Kids to feed I found it invaluable.
good advice on the gazebo we have one aswell but we use the elasticated rope to hold it down by tieing it to the corner of the leg near the top then use decent storm pegs to knock in ,that way it don't move very much
the metal stakes for the lanterns if you get a small tin of flouroscent paint from the hard ware shop paint the hook part then u can see it in the dark when the lanterns go out.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
