Howdy,

We've got a Sprite Compact, pop up caravan, and got the full awning for it which is fine.  But for short breaks (where we just wanna get away!)  it'd be nice to have a porch awning, even if it's just the polyester type.  Somewhere dry to keep shoes...

Problem is,  the van is UNDER 6ft high to the awning rail! lol  it's for hobbits I think!  So regular porch awning wouldn't fit at all,  I'm assuming they'd jut out too far and wouldn't hold their shape.

One solution is to get one of those Quechau Base pop up living areas and pushing it up close to the van..  Just wondering if i've missed anything more obvious..  (The drive-away awnings and 'Eriba' awnings are too dear.)

cheers

Try having a look for a second hand drive away canvas awning, I've just sold my mums for her for £40 and that would fit a 6ft rail easily as it went onto the side of a vw camper.

You'll be able to see my mums old awning at Halloween, we sold it to another ukcs member, but it will give you some ideas

oh thanks mate!  rub it rrright it! 17 - along the lines of, "let's have a look what you could have won"

lol - ok.  we've got the full awning (if you can call it full) for Halloween,  but it'd be interesting to have a look - to see how it might attach to the pop up van..

I dont fancy spending £150 on a popup Quechau thingy!

Loved all the work you have done. How do you know if your caravan is a she?

I bought a canvas drive away awning off eBay for £60 including delivery. The seller used to use it on his VW camper and it's ideal on our Toyota Hi Ace.

Might be worth scouring eBay, preloved or freecycle for something similar.

There is always the option of having an ordinary porch awning adjusted to fit the caravan, it worked for us.

Had the same problem trying to get one for my Freedom Microlite. It was too high for VW Bus type driveaway awnings and too low for a caravan one. I was told that the only driveaway that would fit it was the Outdoor Revolution Movelite (not the XL version) but I never tried one.
