Can anyone tell me the optimim height in my caravan to position a dehumidifier over the winter season (standard BandQ crystal-type) i.e. is it best on a shelf or the floor?

Hi,

We have used two (crystal type)in our van over the last two winters.
We placed one in the kitchen sink and one in the shower for no other reason than we worried they might over flow!

I seem to remember reading on another post some time ago that I was wasting my time anyway as modern vans are so well ventilated that you are trying to dehumidify the world as we know it, and does little to help the van!

With this in mind, I dont know whether to bother this year or not!

Comments?

Well every year we have put some in and the van has stayed nice and dry.  I don't think HRH would let me have any peace if I suggested leaving them out as she likes a good worry.

I have just bought two new ones from Riversway Leisure which purport to last for 3 or 4 months at a time, and  dry out overnight electrically.  They were £18.95 for a pack of two and look quite substantial; even have a little display to show how much they have absorbed.

Should be cheaper than buying refills in the long run.

Thanks for your response

John

i use an electric one from woolworths and only cost £20.use it daily for a few hours.you can use three large bowls of salt but only place these on the floor as the gas given off can damage furniture.keeps van feeling warm and dry.
