Went into Blacks today in Liverpool city centre, they are closing down and have at least 50% off EVERYTHING in the shop! Not sure but I think they may be closing their doors on saturday, still a LOT of stock to sell off though.
Well there is a very good reason to this and unfortunatly not a great one
Rumours are that Blacks are about to go down the pan. so you might get some good deals at the moment. the one in bluewater shopping centre had some good deals. but the stores freespirit and o'neill had gone under as well.
Blacks are closing 86 stores nationwide, but retaining some. Excess stock will be transferred and/or sold on - look out for TKMaxx! I can't tell you how I know ot I might have to shoot somebody ( - or be shot myself!) O'Neill as a company are a long way from bust what is going is a very samll part of the 'name' Freespirit are in the same boat as Blacks - but why no mention of Milletts?
The Blacks in Chester has got the same sale on - and some of their assistants are working in Millets, a couple of doors along, in their Black's corporate clothing.
Was in the Blacks shop today & spoke to a girl I know who works in there. She told me that it was shutting because the landlords have trebled the rates. They are hoping to open another shop somewhere else in town in the near future. Plenty of bargains in the shop with at least 50% off everything but its sad that people will once again lose their jobs just coming up to christmas.
Our local Blacks is selling at 50% off too, although they had very little stock left when I went in recently. We have a Millets too, so it will be interesting to see what happens there- stock and staffing-wise....the Blacks is a much bigger store.
I agree with Sid- it's so sad to see folk losing jobs at any time but it seems particulary prevalent just before Christmas. The only time I was ever made redundant was a very late November a decade ago. Fingers crossed that those involved in this collapse get re-employed swiftly.
------------- He's not the Messiah...he's a very naughty boy!
