Hiya - I am in the middle of 'ktting out' my first caravan. What kettle should I get? If I intend to use electric hook ups can I use a normal electric one (There's a fab brushed stainless steel one in Sainsbury for 15 pounds), or should I get a lower voltage one?? Thanks Sue
I think it will depends on what power the EHU is,a lot of domestic kettles are over 2000 watts, heres a chart from a member on here for help with power consumption.

500 Watts=2.17 Amp
600 Watts=2.61 Amp

1000 Watts=4.35 Amp
1100 Watts=4.78 Amp
1200 Watts=5.22 Amp
1300 Watts=5.65 Amp
1400 Watts=6.09 Amp
1500 Watts=6.52 Amp
1600 Watts=6.96 Amp
1700 Watts=7.39 Amp
1800 Watts=7.83 Amp
1900 Watts=8.26 Amp
2000 Watts=8.70 Amp

------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
I would seriously consider buying a low wattage kettle for using in the caravan. Some domestic kettles pull 10 amps so on some sites you could have a problem. OK a low wattage kettle takes a little while longer to boil but, hey, you are away relaxing so whats the rush!
always used a normal cheapo argos brand kettle for van, so far never had a problem with trip or outage. Did look at the low volt option once a good friend and fellow caravaner told us not to bother. So i think it all depends on your own thoughts. Many people will say about amps and voltage ect. many will say never bothered them.
------------- when only the best will do.

We got a low watt kettle, it might take a few minutes longer to boil but we arent in a rush. It is small enough to fit in the overnight bag for the ferry.

I think you will be bothered when it does trip on a low amps site at night and they will not reset it until the morning.your neighbours will not be happy either.
I got one of the travel kettles from Lidl back in May, it came with two cups not bad for £7, although the must have Travel Kettle, has to be the Kenwood from JLP, I just hope it's in the Jan sales.
