I am not a techno, but I heard on the radio today that OLED is now the latest technology for Flat panel TV's giving a far superior picture to the current LED, Plasma offerings, this could explain the massive price drops on Flat panels, and basicly means all the current models that folk have been buying, are rubbish!.

They are not rubbish, its just that technology is advancing all the time, same as anything electrical. So once new stuff comes out older models are heavily discounted, but that doesn't mean they are rubbish.

Hi Sunvalleysue.

Sorry if I offended, fact is I have been holding of from buying a Flat Panel TV, as the pictures never seem to be as good as that of a CRT TV, it only seems that when a Flat Panel is being used for HD that the pictures seem to get any better, anyway as soon as the price of OLED TV's become affordable, I will be getting one, as by that time my CRT TV's will no doubt be on there last legs.

our ventures into new technology tends to be when our "new" stuff is the far easts old tat,i have no doubt its shipped here to save burying it in far away landfills .
At a very high price though just because its years out of date doesnt mean gwai lou's cant be exploited

Hi,
You have not offended me far from it.
One of the main reasons we bought a flat screen is its a lot lighter and easier to transport that our crt set.Tbh our little Sony has been brilliant over the years(16 years old).It does take quite a bit of room up though in the car.
So I will make a padded carry bag for the new set and it will go on the rear parcel shelf.
And also as more regions are switching over to digital we thought it was about time we thought about a set with built in freeview.
