Those magnetic jobbies that you put on a cylinder. Can anybody tell me how they work, is it temperature?
Are they any good, and would they work on a small cartridge like a Colemane propane or CampinGaz butane?
Given that the small cartridges are never really a problem - as you should always have enough replacements to keep you going - they are a bit academic, but appeal to me as another cool gadget to have.

I don't think they can be that accurate, we run two CampinGaz 904 cylinders, that way it don't matter if one runs out, as there is always a full one on standby, if I was to be doing UK family tent camping, which I don't, I would switch over to a 5kg BP GasLite cylinder, cheaper Gas than CampinGaz, and the BP cylinder is transparent so you can see how much Gas is left inside, which I think is a great idea.

They are not next to useless...they are totally useless.
A camping gaz 907 weighs 14 lbs when full and 6 lbs when empty

The only reliable method is to weigh the cylinder.
The magnetic indicators show the point of differential temperture, but this only applies when gas is actually being drawn off at a sufficient rate.

Enough said. One for the “garbage bin of history” me thinks. Forget I ever asked.
Thanks guys.
