trying to remove my thetford fridge to renew the element, and after removing the 4 side screws i thought it would just pull out, but it won't budge an inch, no movement at all, so is there any other way this might be secured?------your suggestions would be most welcome
I have previously had this problem only to find some clever and helpful previous owner had screwed though the other way from inside an adjoining cabinet! Also has one on a motorhome that was siliconed in i assume to reduce the appalling draught around it or so stop the rattles.
It would be really good if they installed them like the american motorhomes where they have a full size access door on the outside. You can change the element without removing the fridge.

As laurieW suggests, the fridge is likely to be held by the gas supply pipe (not long removed mine). The feed pipe will probably be held secure by 'P' clips; remove the vents to view and access.
You might also find the 230v and 12v supply cables are tie-wrapped to the back of the fridge and these too will restrict removal.
You'd be wise for someone to withdraw the fridge while a second set of eye's is keeping watch for possible obstructions etc via the vent.
Thanks for posting this. I am in the process of trying to take the fridge out of my Elddis caravan to check/replace the 12v. element.
I also have removed the four internal screws and the fridge still seems solid. I will be removing the external vent covers during the next few days (weather and time permitting) and hope "milliemop" will keep us updated on his/her progress.
