We got two of these a couple of years ago.

It folds away compactly and you just hang it up.

We've used pop up linen bags, you know the ones with mesh sides before. You probably can get them in pound shops nowadays. One for the kids and one for us. If you have a big enough tent you could have one each - they don't take up any room in the car.

Julie,

Last year a picked up two camping cupboards from Aldi

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/offers_week24thursday09.htm

Worth keeping an eye on their website because they do the same offers each year and the quality of the cupboards is excellent.

Cheers Bowman

We use those underbed storage bags once we're there, then i unpack everybodys and keep a seperate one for dirty washing.  they take up no room to pack and then everone has their own space.  Though did buy a folding vango cupboard for myself that a has a hard top to use as a dressing table!!  The kids and the hubby have to make do!!

Had thought of the clothes rail in the past but in the old frame tent just used to use loads of hooks on the frame and the idaho comes with wardrobe rails.

We use a concertina clothes airer. like this

Great for drying towels if a bit damp outside, and also for draping t shirts and trousers over.

Well thank you all for your suggestions!
I've decided against the whole wardrobe thing for sure. Added expense and as Val said, something else to pack, build and fill!

So......
I'm thinking either collapsible crates from B & Q £7.96 for 3 or 2 half price holdalls from tesco (bigguns as well) £10 the pair!!!

And I thought my husband was bad at making decisions!

My holdalls came from Tesco and were very cheap when on offer. They don't have to have wheels or anything sophisticated and they don't actually have to be that robust as they're not going through airport baggage handling, are they? The sports type ones with a pocket at each end are good, if the pockets are big enough to be a functional "drawer". One end for undies, one end for sports/swimming gear? The other ideal type of bag is the old unstructured nylon holdall type that we all used to use in the 80's. Lightweight and squishes down well in the car. But you don't see them very often.

One tip if you have four identical holdalls is to tie a small piece of coloured ribbon to the zip pull. Here Hubby is red, DS is green, I'm yellow and DD is blue.( I use this sort of colour coding on other items too...saves arguements!) That way you can identify the bag without opening it.

I don't like using rigid boxes in the car unless the contents need protection. Holdalls and cool bags have enough give in them to squeeze them into the boot more effectively.

I collect up all dirty clothes into a nylon zip-up bag that came with one of my sleeping bags. (I prefer stuffsacs for sleeping bags.) It packs to nothing, has good handles for the cross-campsite trek to the washing machine and when we come home it gets dumped straight in front of the washing machine downstairs. On the way out, it holds the towels. So the holdalls are a lot emptier on the return journey and can squash down more.
