We're looking for a lightweight hoover probably a hand held one with great suction we have young kids & they trail all sorts in. We'll have a quick vac at the end of the day.
We have a Dyson handheld vacuum. Its got very good suction and I can hoover the caravan right through on the 8 minute charge, which is what it holds. I know it doesn't sound like much, but we live in a Victorian three storey house and I can do all the stairs and the rug in my sons bedroom in the attic all on the 8 minutes! Well worth paying a bit more for the quality of the goods.
We've got a rechargeable Vax. It's got good suction and really last well on a charge. As it's a lead acid battery it's a bit heavier than others, but that also means the batter is more robust and should last a lot longer.
We bought one for use in our caravan and it folds up nicely into a small bundle to keep in the foot locker. Can be used as a hand held or with the extension pipes you strap it over the shoulder. Works really really well. If you check the Lakeland website and find something else you fancy to bring the total cost up to £50 then postage is free. Better still take your Van up to Windermere and visit the shop.
When we were looking for a small vac we looked at loads of rechargeable and found that many needed to be on charge for longer than the amount of use you could get out of it. So, in terms of power, it used more charging then it would if you just vac'd the whole van attached whilst plugged into the socket.

Hi, its the DC30 - its great. Our dog is moulting at the moment so an unbelievable amouint of long haired dachshund hair in the waste compartment when I cleaned the carpet in the caravan!
I bought a dirt devil 240v one from a bootsale for £2, they still sell them in the shops though. I cannot believe how good it is, it has spinning brushes like an oldskool upright hoover and really gets stuck in.
We had tried rechargeable and 12v ones in the past but this is a different class. It is also a decent low wattage so we can run from our inverter when on rallies.
