m in need of a new camping lantern for my coming years camping. Been highly disappointed in the past with high priced lamps that give off very little light when hung form the centre of a tent. playing cards at a table, reading etc. Or ones that are great for a couple of hours and then you have to spend a fortune on batteries.
Can anyone tell me a good lamp that will not break the bank and give off a decent light? Open to all ideas..

We love our Northstar Lantern
And I would love to be able to afford one, but I wouldn't use one inside a tent with SIG and absolutely not hanging from the top of the tent. I've got a couple of Coleman dual fuel lanterns for outside. But for inside I would strongly recommend LED UFOs. You will get them for betweeen £4 and £5 (Wilkinsons and ASDA respectively). They take three AA batteries each and the batteries will last a good week. They are wonderfully bright and I use three on single ring setting in the living area of my Minnesota which provides more than enough light by which to read a newspaper or book after I've got the kids to bed.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
