Nearly got everything now and the countdown to our maiden camping voyage is in the 40's....
Have been looking for a compact portable bbq now for a while...
specs are:
adjustable grill height
easy to pack away/compact
freestanding
charcoal
This seems to fit the bill, but would feel better if I could find one in the 'flesh' to have a look at.....

Anyone tried this one, or got any recommendations?

B&Q used to do one about 4 years ago which looks very similar - I bought my son one and it's still going strong.

We use something similar but in ours we can fit a disposable BBQ into it. This makes the cleaning very simple. Just chuck the disposable part in the bin once it has cooled. ------------- Lobey.

I think this one is quite low down so you might have to stoop over.

I like the ad: Rump in the park, exotic nibbles at the campsite. Never knew barbecues could be so entertaining!

I had one of those for years and it was great. If you line the base with foil, as Matthew said, it is really easy to keep clean and it all packs into the case = even used to get the barbeque tools in mine.------------- Ronni

This is our, very old BBQ, in action in the rain. Everything fits inside the base, legs and all.

Do you have to read stories to it, or is that optional?

Yes. While waiting for the charcoal to stop smoking.
Could be worse, it could have been a recipe book!!!
