Thanks guys for all your answers. It's all changed a lot since we last had a tent. Since having to downsize from the van we're on a really tight budget so I'm trying to mix and match bits left from the caravan and put them with the tent. I did sell my aquaroll and waste then thought perhaps I should have kept it! But I will probably buy the large water bottles as sugested.

I was assuming that clean drinking water from a normal tap wouldn't have the typhoid  bacterium in it ....or at least, it wouldn't magically appear just because I carried the water across the campsite carrying said water in a plastic bottle, no?

Now well water, or from rivers and streams...break out the water filters and the purifying tablets here. And yes, I would sterillize out my water container afterwards!
