Hi opticalflat,
Not sure why you got the aggressive replies to what was a simple question some people cant help it I guess.
Anyway, table top fridges, we have recently gone this route having tried various other 2 and 3 way units and we only have one negative point worth making....compressor rattle !!!! drives me mad in the back of the car during the journey. The unit clatters with even the slightest of bumps and I cant see any way of silencing it so it now gets packed amongst the soft items in an attempt to muffle the clonk clonk clonk.
Apart from that much better in every respect to the top loading 3 way units in our opinion.
you can pack around the compressor unit for travel to stop rattle just remember to remove when you arrive!

Thanks for the answer.
How noisy are the table tops when set up and running?
Do you keep it inside the living area or in the porch area?
Do they keep cool in hot climates?
As for your compressor rattle then the only thing i can think of to stop it is pack around the compressor with bubble wrap.
Just make sure you take it out before plugging in.
When its running its virtually silent, its when its in the back of the car on route to the site.
The round cylinder at the back of the fridge must have something floating inside it as the clonk comes from within so no matter how well its packed or supported it makes no difference. Packing it amongst the sleeping bags and other soft items does help to reduce the annoying clonking though.
As far as on site goes, we keep ours in the main living area of the tent on a small table as I wouldn't want to expose the electrics to the weather outside the tent. We have used ours from early and very chilly March trips, didn't really need it to be honest !!, through into the dizzy highs of our English summers ha ha and its never given us any problems to date.
Oh and it wasn't you I was having a dig at wongers, as you rightly say this has been well covered in past threads.
------------- Dont dream your life, live your dream, or just go down the pub !!
We switched from a coolbox to a table top fridge and used it for the first time on our last trip, see below.
I much prefer it, it also has a little mini freezer which was handy and it made no noise at all. It is fairly big so obviously transporting it might be an issue for some.
We use a Waeco CF25, great little fridge and runs almost silent as it works like a normal fridge, so 12/24v/Mains only, great for keeping stuff cool on the 1000mile drive South to the main site, taking little room up in the car, and plenty big enough for the two of us, for our 2 week camp in the South of France, copes superb even in the blistering heat of July (France!), got lucky with ours at £150 new, although full RRP is a little on the expensive side, all the same a great piece of kit.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
