We are 2 people of a cuddly build, we have had under our seats in our caravan for the past 3yrs some foam that we use underneath us at night as extra support, this is now being thrown away. We have looked at getting some memory foam or 2 of the Raskelf foam toppers to use but we were just wondering -- could you use 2 self inflating camping mats/mattresses just the same.?? they would be kept under the bench seats in the day and only used at night, I have a bad backproblem and my wife has Arthritis. I know one of you good people out there will be able to advise us. The Raskelf ones are too too pricey at the moment, so we would have to wait for the NEC show. We went to a local TJHughes last week and looked at their memory foam mattress toppers and they were the egg box type- pretty thin and no use to us. Cheers gary
Both of us are well over the "cuddly" rate and I have had arthritis in my knees for years. Fortunately I have now had replacement knees fitted but we still need proper support bedding for other problems.
I cannot stress too much, the importance of spending decent money on your bedding. Afterall, you will spend more time in bed when camping/caravanning than doing any other single thing and there is nothing worse than getting a bad night's sleep.
Many thanks Lobbeydosser- I fully agree with what you say and after I have typed this to you I will visit the link you provided. Will let you know how we get on. cheers Gary
Memory foam is OK if there is something under it. I tried a 2.5" thickness in the roof of my campervan and my hips reached the hard floor. Reflex foam, with a memory foam topper, is the best arrangement I have found
Our beds/seats are 4" thick Reflex Foam onto a board base. We have not had any problems so far and we are very heavy people. Then again the van is only three and a bit years old. Perhaps in time it will not be as good
cheers to you all. wife is busy looking for memory foam toppers and comparing them with raskelf who do different densities for different size chunky people. gary
We both have these sort of problems. At home we have a 25cm thick Tempur mattress, which is really comfortable. I would be very cynical about finding a 'topper' that would come anywhere near the performance. You sink a good 5-10 Cms into this, which is as thick as some of the toppers!!
