We use the Weber briquettes, never had a problem with them. cant say how they compare to the Australian heat beads as i heve never used them.
we have tried the cheaper briquetes from the supermarkets but they lose their heat too quickly

Have Waitrose stopped doing them? That's where I got mine last year. Haven't been in yet this year, am using cobblestones cos I find them much easier (although I agree they're really far too expensive).

Funny, it was only the other day that I was thinking that I hadn't seen any this year. I stocked up a couple of years ago when I spotted them less than half price in somewhere like Tesco. Not looked in my localish Waitrose - but not too sure if they will have them.
I have seen the Cobblestones in Lakeland, but don't like the price.

I think it was John Lewis where I got mine from, but can't honestly remember.
Still got loads left, but then again , you use so few when cooking. Mine came with 4 great bags and the delivery man staggered to the door with the package. Mindst you it was Nov/Dec time so not much call. Glad I got them - have plenty to be going on with for my Cobb.

Thanks for that link I think that's the way that we'll have to do it. I rang around all our Waitrose stores to be told they haven't got any and even bought a small bucket bbq for small meals to save my heat beads for a full on cook, how sad am I

As sad as me, I put the barby out with water and then the whole bricks can be saved and used again!!
