I'm off to Field Barn Park on Thursday for 2 nights. Just realised says tents must use Eco groundsheets. Was planning to use Freelander and footprint. Does this mean I need to buy and cut to shape a special groundsheet?

I understood these were usually used in caravan awnings. No point having an eco groundsheet if your tent has a SIG. Only for 2 nights as well. Perhaps you should ring to check?

Hello Mavis.
I purchased Eco-Mats for my new tent recently, although it has a SIG, and I could get a Footprint for it.

It does allow a modicum of air to the grass.
Obviously with a SIG over it, sunlight will not penetrate therefore the grass will yellow eventually.

I do not regret purchasing my Eco-Mats, they are comfortable underfoot (especially bare ones), protect the SIG from dirt and penetration from stones etc.
Are rot-roof, noiseless, as well as being able to stay put in a breeze.

There is also a better thermal barrier than a plain Tarp.

As clunty pointed out, you're welcome to check with the site.

Kind regards James

In the beginning there was darkness.
Then I bought a tent.

ooooh piglets!!!! we've booked to stay here next weekend while we go to the Fairford Air Tattoo and I hadn't noticed that . I read all the reviews and no-one mentioned they had to buy a new groundsheet or that they had an issue with this.

Luckily our groundsheet isn't sewn in so we can remove it if required and have the grass between our tootsies instead (doesn't sound too bad actually!!)

Luckily I already had an eco sheet for the FC awning, i use it with the tent as well I am lucky that we can alternate the bedroom pods. As we usually only use the 2 out of 3 so we swap around and  can leave the pitch green after we have used it. Never had any problems with leaks or draughts as the eco sheets are quite heavy. I usually just fold it to fit instead of cutting it to size.

Received email from Martin to say "Your fine, only for long stay folks" Sigh of relief.
