Please can anyone help!

Usually camp with electric hook up but the campsite we want to stay at this year are fully booked for electric pitches so considering camping without.

I have visited the campsite and in the new toilet block there are lots of shaver sockets in the womens toilet blocks.

Can these be used for hair dryers,straightners, mobile charges etc. If so what adaptors do you use to convert to three pin and what safety measures need to be considered?

i'm afraid they are not designed for high power stuff.have you thought about an 12v to 240v inverter? and connect to the car battery.

Even an inverter will struggle to cope with a hairdryer.

3000watt inverter is about £300

Battery wont last long 300A input at max output.

true but you can get a 800w hairdryer and a 1000w inverter alot cheaper.

Some of those look very dodgy, Similar size to my 600w inverter yet claim to be able to run 1400 watts.

Also supplied with a cigar lighter plug. Mine only came with heavy duty cables and clips. Lots more power than the average lighter socket can provide.

No mention of max current drawn at full power?

This all seems a bit too complicated. Wonder why they put all those shaver points in the female loos? Looks like out of control hair this trip. Maybe easier not to look in a mirror then I'll have no idea how bad I look!!

Shaver points can be used to recharge electric toothbrushes - although who would leave their expensive toothbrush in the loo blocks for long enough for it to recharge?
