I personally avoid airbeds with built in pump as the risk of leak is bigger. Then there are thousands of brands making airbeds, and some are simply sh**

The Tesco Double Air Mattress my wife and I had leaked from day of purchase. I though it was my fault, not screwing the cap on tightly.
The design seemed good. It had a dual sized cap, undo the smaller one to inflate, it had a non-return valve, which meant that when you removed the pump the air did not rush out.
Open the larger one for deflating.
I did not find the cause of leakage, at night it was perfect, but in the morning our bottoms could feel the ground.
I returned it, and exchanged it for 2 Camping Gaz/Coleman single ones.
These have a different valve, but are "Guaranteed Leak Proof".
Guess What?? They leak, but not as bad (YET)
I know enough about expansion and contraction of air with temperature. I have ruled that out as an excuse.
I also know about insulating the underside in cold weather, to avoid the "Ice Block" effect some complain of.
But! Being singles, this means that there is now no more interaction when one of us moves (tossing and turning).
I just have to persuade my wife to allow a greater gap between them, and have her own bedding. LOL
Some folk prefer using Self Inflating Mats.
I still have to be convinced the extra cost is worth it. (For me)
I would not recommend a Brand or Model. Because what I feel comfortable with, may be unsuitable for anyone else.
Could you name the models you have had the problems with?

The best thing you can do is leave it behind, buy yourself a self inflating mat instead, they are smaller lighter and warmer as well, you can get them everywhere, for comfort find one which is 5cms thick and you will be glad you did!!

i have had cheepy pvc flock airbeds too that let me down.( blue colour pvc bottom with a velour top) i used to have a ruberised cotton double airbed (thick rubber construction with a layer of cotton glued to the top and bottom, (usually red on one side and blue on the other) which never ever let me down (literally !) but one winter in the garage, the mice claimed it :(
i went through a sucsession of pvc flocked airbeds after the death of my ruberised cotton one, as i just couldnt find rubber ones in any shops any more.then i happened upon the coleman double comfortbed........and its great !
it was about £30 and its twin cell,(two seperate pockets of air) so if one of you is a energetic sleeper, there is minimal disruption to the person on the other side. ive used it on friends floors, and camping in our tent, it doesnt even go abit squishy in the midle, it stays exactly as it is when first inflated ! ive leant it to friends, and they have loved it so much, they have gone on to purchase their own !
the valves are guarenteed to be leakproof.you push them inside themselves when you are pumping the air in and they seal, so you have all the time in the world to put the stopcap on, and you dont get that annoying emptying of air whilst you scrabble to put the stopper in.
i think £30 is well worth it for a good nights sleep
Im going to put PTFE tape on the thread to see if that helps with my airbed. Im also going to use a Gas leak aerosol to see where the leaks are coming from.
