i drive HGV trucks for a living and know a bit about weights and loads etc and believe me if i thought in anyway it was just a tiny bit unstable i wouldn't tow with it, the key is to get the heavier stuff towards the bottom of the trailer and to make sure both the tyres are at the same correct pressure, the 30cm cover you see is part of the original erde high cover kit...

I've often wondered about the physics of a single horse box trailer. They look very tall and narrow when following behind them, and most of the weight of a horse is high up. Does the fact that they stand on four legs, transfer all the weight to the floor of the trailer, but then again, if they leant against the side of the trailer, say when going round a corner, the weight would to my mind transfer upwards. ?? any one ??

I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
Thanks for posting this OP. I've been looking at getting a trailer so that we can continue to grow our camping equipment (mainly due to this damn site lol) and will have to go the trailer route once we get a dog. Much to the wife's disgust lol.
This option seems to be a very cost-conscious way of achieving the aim, given that the cost of alu/steel trailers is pretty huge if buying new, and even 2nd hand off the 'Bay is serious money. Wooden trailers seem to go for considerably less and with a little ingenuity and "bodgit-itis" you can get something that is unique and perfect for you.
Now I just need someone to put a wooden trailer on 'Bay that's not hundreds of miles away from me
