Plates, saucepans etc generally fit in the cupboards either overhead or in the kitchen unit. Bits are bought anywhere you find them. Places like Wilkinsons on the high street, Poundlands and supermarkets are often popular haunts. Dedicated shops are generally more expensive for a lot of general items. Once you have the van you can plan where things go and look out for small/ compact versions of things specific to the space you have available. Caravan outlets online or physical stores would be best though for specialist items (e.g. your microwave) that could potentially require 12v and 240v operation. They may need to advise you on the basis of the van you get and what services you have built in.

Happy shopping!

Helen

(BTW - although I'm a tenter now, I've had caravans in the past)

Amazon has a very big selection of melamine plates etc (NB these do NOT microwave) as well as the places listed above and our old friend ebay! I also agree to look outside the dedicated camping stuff. It would seem that camping has become so popular some items have gone to ridiculous prices.

Agree with the above about microwave, as I understand it, domestic use microwaves often 'spike' at a wattage well above the one they are rated at and are therefore unsuitable for use with the limited ampage on an EHU.

It may sound ridiculous, but i also keep a log of what I have bought and what it cost me, partly for insurance purposes, but also because (unless you have the bank balance of an Onassis) it's very easy to spend a fortune in dribs and drabs! Spending it is fun though! Happy hunting

Camping shop melamine stuff is expensive. Ebay will have a lot of gear.

We gave up on the microwave. The domestic one gobbled up far too much power and didn't bother with an expensive specialised model.
