It seems to me that camping manufacturers still haven't come up with the ideal bed. In the few years we've been camping we've had..

Airbeds from cheap to expensive, they burst (especially with kids jumping on them) or find yourself lying on ground in the morning. So no good there.

Camping beds take up too much room. So no good there.

Self inflating mats (like fat airics) bought five, lost three first time camping (maybe just unlucky). So no good there.

So after hundreds of pounds wasted the only solution i can see (although a little bulky) are some gym mats we found from argos. Comfy to sleep ony, light, not too bulky, not inflatable (good sign), reasonable price and best of all quick to pack.

It seems that every inflatable bed we have every bought has had a limited lifespan. Mind you try telling three kids to stop jumping on them, never seems to work.

Airbeds every time for us, we replace maybe one every year or so but covered with our sheep skin under blanket it is the best combination we have found for warmth and comfort.

I have some roll up gym/yoga mats I use for the kids too. i got them from a charity shop for £2. no complaints with them nice and warm and easy, no inflating.
I also have some york foam excercise mats , they are thicker at 2inches deep, but fold to 2ft x 2ft x 6 inches , so not ideal for everyone because of the bulk , but I find them the most comfy bed s I have tried yet.

I have cheap gelert airbeds too, had them 3 years , comfy enough and out of 4 I bought , only one has punctured , but they do need re inflating after a night or two.

Kids jumping on airbeds will always result in punctures or ripped inner tents or worse , snapped poles, when they grab the inner to steady themselves and strain the poles.,and is strictly not allowed in my tent.

I can't understand people who say they can't stop kids jumping on them . don't they have any control over the kids ? Just chuck the kids off and zip the bedroom up, problem solved .I have 8 granchildren ,eldest is 6 , usually have about 4 of them camping with me at a time , they don't jump on the beds ,its not allowed , end of.
