Ok so we go camping tomoz for a long weekend to dinas, and i have got all the stuff in the hall way ready to go and wow how much stuff have we got. Oh has said what can we leave behind and I have said nothing only packed the stuff the guys on the ukcampsite have said we will need, and the guys on thier know what they are talkin about.
so sorry guys foe blaming you lot but thanks for all your help so far x x x x x
Just a tip but when you are camping make a list of anything you think of that you have forgotten and when you put it away when you get home have a look and see what you didnt need so you can leave it out next time if you are unlikely to use it. My car seems to get more full every time we go - I cant buy anything else or we wont get it in the car unless I drive to the campsite with the roof down and stick it all out of the top! Now theres an idea!
We are off tomorrow as well, there is only the OH and me and a puppy yet we have filled an Erde 142 trailer with an extension! a roofbox, and all the rear seats in car are folded down and thats full as well! i blame this site! please stop giving me more ideas and bargains!
------------- I Think Therefore I Am I Think? eh? If all is not lost where is it?
I get everything into the boot of my car but I have part of the back seat folded down flat. It's a hatchback so I can fill to the roof, although I know I shouldn't as it makes reversing a bit tricky (apologies to any little old ladies in Sainsburys car park)
I'm away at the moment and my current problem is, I've bought some presents to bring home for my family and since the car was filled to the gills before I went I don't know where I'm going to put this stuff plus the two skate boards my sons have insisted on buying with their holiday money!
Everytime I go away I take my packing list and review how useful things were. Even on this very carefully planned trip I'm on right now, I can already tell that I took double the amount of cutlery I need, but I'm on my last gas cannister for the stove. Tomorrows my last day so I'm not too worried but it but still, I obviously didn't bring enough to do. Still, the only good thing is you're never too far away from a Halfords!
As much as you think is too much and what you can't fit into the car/roofbox/trailer...
There's only two of us but our camping gear for two-weeks filled the back of an estate car (seats down) - although flatter than last year so we could see out rear window through the bikes - plus a roofbox.
And, I don't think we took superflouous accessories. OK, maybe a few too many clothes/shoes, and one or two extra blankets. But beyond that, we used and like to have, everything we took. Downsize things if you can and see how clever you can be with the packing.
For a weekend, just the car with seats up (but no children). Ask maybe: what do I NEED and, what's NICE TO HAVE?
