Hi,
is there a way of telling how much gas is left in the bottle?
Thanks

We bought a gauge from Kleeneze. It's magnetic and you put it on the side of the tank. Whist using the gas it indicates how full the tank is.

There are a few ways, you weigh it and subtract the weight of the bottle or shake it gently and see what is left sloshing around inside. I believe that the little magnetic label thingy that you can buy isn't very good. If its propane (red bottle usually) change to Calor Lite as it has a gauge built in. Buy a proper external gauge.

..I should hang on to it then!..as it must be the only one that does..
..and on the whole, gauges don't work(worth doing a search,as there have been a few threads on this).
Weighing the cylinder is the only real accurate method(..a bit of a pain,I know).
I've only recently found that the empty weights are on the cylinders
(..on our propane,it's on the metal disc around the top fitting, marked in lbs & oz!)
This pdf contains a table of full & empty weights:

Get on the bathroom scales with and without the bottle, subtract the first weight from the second and Bob's your mother's brother.

I use the weighing method. Tried several of the stick on gauges and I'm yet to find one which works let alone be accurate. ------------- Sarah

You need one of these
Plenty of different ones, the ones with a better/proper handle are best, but more expensive.-------------
