Just bought THIS and now wishing I'd read the reviews before I did. I don't cook inside the tent but wanted something to shelter under for cooking if it was raining. I didn't want to buy a kitchen tent as don't want to be charged for another tent. The theory was this could just be put up if needed, I store my cooker in the tent when not in use and carry it out on it's stand to cook. I'd just take this brolly down when I'd finished using it.
One of the reviews says the rain just came right through it..lol..oh boy. Of course I couldn't use it if it was windy, I'll let you know how it stands up next time I'm away and it rains..lol.
Mmmm...Keenets tend to be the Halfords of the fishing world. Yer gets wot yer pays for.
Not only that but I have had one or two different fishing umbrellas and I don't think any have been totally waterproof. They tend to leak through the centre knob at the top. This is not too much of a problem if you use the umbrella on a tilt as most anglers do because the water runs down the inside and drips off behind the angler as he is sat on his chair or stool. If you have the brolly upright though you may find a problem. However, I have never had Keenets brolly so can't comment on that particular item.
Buy yourself some Nikwax spray and boost it waterproofability (new word I just made up) if its leaking from the centre nob, unscrew it and put a couple of thin rubber washers between the fabric.
I use a fishing brolly to bbq under in dodgy weather and similar to wiffles reply I gave it a coat of fabsil and when its windy use a couple of extra guy ropes.
