Hi,
we're going away for first time since last summer this weekend and hubbie and I can't remember when we last used the gas and how much is left in bottle.
is there anyway of knowing how much is left?
its normal campingaz type.
i'm going to be on my own with the kids without a car so dont fancy getting stuck with 3 hungry kids.
look on the bottle the tare weight should be stamped on the bottle . weigh the bottle take away the tare ,you have the weight of contents . easy really .i carry a parcelspring balance just for that reason. reimo used to sell them just for weighing gas bottles. cheers alan.
Give it a good shake. If it feels heavy and there's the sound of a lot of liquid sloooshing around, there's gas in there. If you're not sure and you're worried, just get a refill. Or you could check with the campsite to see if they sell gas refills? Or go to your local recycling place, see if they've got any empties in the gas bottle cage, smile sweetly and scrounge an empty (not forgetting the traditional fiver as thanks.) The easiest way not to run out of gas is to carry a spare full one after all.
