I'm looking for a large thermal blanket, lightweight, to go on top of our sleeping bag at night, normal blankets just aren't warm enough or big enough! Does anyone know where to get them from?

Some of the fleecy sleeping bag liners unzip completely to make a fleece blanket. Alternatively use them inside your sleeping bag for the warmest use. They add a season to a sleeping bag when inside.

We bought some 'Emergency blankets' from an army surplus website, cant recall the name but OH might remember.  They are not very nice to look at, grey, sort of felt fabric, a bit like hot water tank insulation stuff.  

They are used by emergency services and are very warm, we payed £5 each blanket.  I have decorated mine with sew-on patches from places we've been, ribons, beads and buttons.  It looks much better and eveyone can tell its 'my blanket'
