I have just come back from my 5 night trip in Oxfordshire, and pleased with the tarp. I have used it before with success, as a stand alone. when it rained, but not with slight wind. I tried it with a new approach, and used it as a porch canopy over the front of the tent, how I have seen it done on here. Once I have got the angles of the canopy and the guylines it worked a treat, as it was trial and error. I placed the straight edge over the top of the tent of the first pole, I realised the guylines needed to go backwards to prevent the tarp popping off the front of tent with the wind. ( i found that out when it became a bit windy)lol
That little adjustment made a difference, Used 3 poles. It made such a big difference with the camping experience. As I was able to open up the tent up, had somewhere to cook under. The biggest one was no horrible drips coming into the tent when exiting or entering the tent. when it's been raining. are blissss. The tarp flapped a bit with the wind, but it stayed put. Result one happy chappie.
Two sets of poles comes with the quencha tarp. With these you can do a basic A frame canopy, but you can use the poles which comes with a tent which I did. These give you a bit more flexibity and height. The first time around I used it as a stand alone, I was able to underneath also have a proper full size picnic table under it wth the extra poles for height. ( for your question, extra poles would be handy.) Also can experiment with various configerations, which I need to do as well. I used 3 lots of poles at various height to help channel rain away from the tent. great for shade and rain. Also you can combine it with a windbreak. for added protection,
I was humming and haring about what to buy to cook under, but finance dictated my decision.
I do have the Adventure Tarp as well. I actually took both. I was going to put it up on the Sigma 300, as well as the other one. Decided against it, too many guyropes. Just had the Quencha up, The boys did'nt get wet going from one tent to the next. It does'nt take up that much room in the car. Well neither of them do. Actually Speedcamp swayed me in buying the Adventure tarp. I have ended up with both. and no regrets.
we love our quencha tarp! used it on site and even took it to the beach for rain/sun shade! - love it love it love it - but we will be buying more poles for more fexibility! x x

Does the Quecha tarp have square ends? We have an Outwell tarp which is fab but the ends taper inwards which means when I use it as a canopy off our awning, there are gaps at each end between tarp and awning. This is fine in good weather (what is that exactly??) but obviously no good in the rain.
ours arrived today great
its 5 11" and im 6 3" looks like Debs will be doing the cooking from now on
Going to see about getting some more poles from go-outdoors
really does look a cracking bit of kit just wish it wasn't raining so i could play with it
