Hi All
Im off to Shell Island next week and am presuming the ground will be soft/sand, (im hoping to pitch near the dunes) I normally use delta pegs do you think these will be OK for the softer ground???
Many thanks

sorry i love the delta but don't think they would be ideal in sand.i would make some out off 2x1 treated timber about 2ft long.
or find some nice rocks to bury in the sand.
or if you have an old wind break cut the poles up and use them

army surplus is a great source for sand pegs at sensible prices, we have loads - from 8" alloy ones to 18" steel. Got mine from Anchor Supplies near us but guess there are others nearer you
Deltas wont do the job in proper sand

...then, for extra security, bury them in the sand!
No, all kidding aside, Maria, you should be fine with Deltas, or even long "ordinary" pegs, on much of Shell Island. There are plenty of grass areas as well as the deep sand where you might well need some of the above suggestions.
