Only problem that I'd imagine is that emissions from burning unleaded are more harmful than emissions from burning gas.....thanks to all those additives like benzene and toluene etc. I, personally, wouldn't cook toast over petrol. Would happily use Aspen 4T or that overly expensive Coleman white fuel though. I do cook over petrol, but only with pots and pans. Toast I do in a frying pan.....small amount of olive oil (more like fried bread I guess) or spread a bit of butter on the bread first then put it in the frying pan.
Have been doing toast for years for us and the children with unleaded, no problems with taste or illness. The Coleman cookers burn the fuel very efficiently and no residue of any kind has ever been found on any of our equipment or toast, lol.
Just don't be of the misunderstanding that you soak the bread in the petrol first as this may be harmful for the toast.
I like to use a single Gaz burner if it's wet or an old bain-marie pot with a grill rack and charcoal, for dry days-this is for cooking and heating use, kettles always on and warms bricks for night time! Might try the petrol cooker?

we use the single folding toaster on the coleman petrol cooker and havent had any problems with it
I used a fold out toaster, it took over half and hour, all that happened was the bread got really dry, like stale bread, curled and coloured slightly, where did I go wrong?

Oooh bit late rely but, thanks yeah the whole thing was a bad design, it has four sides and a bottom that blocked all the heat..just use a stick now over the flame! in fact I don't eat bread so no probs :)

Pyramid toaster ? Absolute waste of time , you'd think it would work in principal , only result I ever got was also dried bread , I even cut out the middle of the piece of rubbish , got my money back in the end ,, I got the best results with a dry pan , even teacakes mmmm
