Having recently got back from our latest camping holiday of 17 nights, I can honestly say we had a mixed bag of weather ! Two nights were horrendous, extremely windy and very very wet,, and how the tent wobbled lol.! Fortunately, unlike other tents on the site, both my tent and day tent are secured by Delta Ground Anchors. This was the best purchase I have ever made for my tents. I always use my Deltas, even in glorious sunshine when pitching cos you never know what might happen overnight. I wouldn't be without them :)
We've just got back from 2 very windy weeks on top of a hill overlooking Looe in Cornwall. Because the site is so exposed we had constant wind from the side and then over the middle weekend the weather was dreafdul with really high winds coming of the sea, torrential rain for 3 days solid and thick fog. It then cleared up for a couple of days giving us back our gorgeous view before we got very strong gale force winds and more rain over the Wed and Thursday.
I used delta's on all my guy lines for my tent and canopy (the Vango premium one with the door) and was so glad as not one of them budged and my brother borrowed a couple of spares I had for the front of his tent as he was so impressed. I was even brave enough to leave the canopy up the for the second lot of high winds, instead of taking it down each time the wind picked up, and it was rock solid. The only pegs that moved were my normal ones holding the bottom of the tent down so I shall be investing in some decent ones to replace these for next time.
My sister in law got talking to one lady at the toilets and she was complaining about the cheap plastic pegs her hubby had got. When she described them Sandie realised she was talking about deltas so told her how brilliant they were and to definitly not get rid of them lol!!
Thanks for posting this link Tony - I've just ordered some from RVOps....£12.64 for 25, including postage. Not sure if it's the best price, but the company is reliable and they take PayPal, so straight forward....just how I like it - Plus anything that cuts down on the number of guy line checks I need to do in the wind and rain is fine by me....worth the money just for that!
I just can't stop banging on about Delta's to anyone who'll listen.
We have just got back from a weeks camping and my Deltas had their first real test, it was raining and windy on a biblical scale and they never budged a millimetre they are to camping what the wheel is to the car in my book....a major necessity I will never be wiyhout them now best 10 quid on camping gear i've ever spent

I have never felt the need for Deltas with any of my previous tents (always used the plastic Outwell pegs and never had one come loose yet) However, at the end of my last trip, when it had rained all week, the ground was so soft that I could pull the pegs out by hand ! We had also had strong winds that week, and even though I had been checking my guys, I never thought to check the pegs. I had taken all the usual precautions (sheltered spot, bum to wind etc) and I was obviously ok, but it did make me wonder what could have happened if a strong gale (or worse) had come along. Anyway, the upshot of this story is that I have ordered a full set of Deltas for my new Polycotton tent (and some Rock Pegs for the frame), so along with the Line Lock cleats that I mentioned above, I think I'm covered....unless there is something else I am missing.... advise as necessary
Just invested in some Delta's for my guy lines and rock pegs for the ground sheet. I have been using regular tent pegs and have been "ignoring" common advice on pegs up until now!!
I figured £20 is a small price to pay to keep me anchored to the ground (hopefully!) and minimise the risk of completly wrecking our camping kit.
I hope this does not sound like a really dopey question - but what should the deltas look like when they are actually hammered into the ground?

Delta Ground Anchors..the strongest, most secure tent pegs in the world! Nylon anchors twice as efficient as rock pegs in 'average' soil! Quality stainless pegs for tougher soil are available.
Also wanted to add that I am totally impressed with the customer services via the delta website. I needed the kit in a hurry and postage was upgraded to first class with no issue and got a really friendly reply to my e-mails. Thanks once again!
I haven't used my deltas yet (the pitch at Corfe Castle was so sheltered the tent would have stayed up with lolly sticks), but I second the comments about the service - Rob returned my call while he was in a hospital waiting room and the pegs and pullers arrived as promised.
The pullers are utterly fab, btw, especially the long one!
Next year, I'm treating the dogs to a dog tether each.

That surgical stainless is good stuff isn't it?
