Hi, my Vango Diablo 900 DLX tent succombed to a near galeforce disaster last weekend in Burton Fleming. The main supporting poles took a battering and one of them snapped tearing a hole in the inner and outer tent. I intend to repair it with some tenacious tape, but can anyone advise me where to get replacement pole(s)??
There's a very useful entry by valk scott on repairing tent poles. You can buy a fibreglass pole kit, which includes spare sections of pole, shock cord to go through the middle, and a threading rod. First you need to measure the diameter of the pole you are replacing. Trying to see the difference between 8.6mm and 9.5mm will send you cross-eyed using a ruler, so you might need to find a friend with a micrometer. Places like Towsure sell the kits, about six to ten pounds depending on diameter.
The poles are easy to fix - your tent much less so. Tape will allow you to finish your holiday (if you are lucky) but you will need to repair the outer at least. I would suggest taking it back to your retailer and asking them to send it to Vango for a repair estimate. Otherwise you will always be waiting for the tape to come off.....
