Apologies if i'm in the wrong section, but hope somebody can help. I've just bought a second hand calor heater. It seems to be in excellent condition as is the regulator and bottle, and lights fine. However, When I turn the heater control knob to the 'O' (off) position the fire remains alight. To extinguish the flame off I have to turn it off at the regulator. Is this normal?
Thanks

I take it you mean the valour house heater.
on the older model of gas heater that we had it was normal to turn the gas off to put the fire out but the newer models had a shut down vaulve fitted.

If I remember, they do take a little while to run out of the gas in pipework and then splutter to out.........but I always used to turn off the lever tap anyway - just to be on the safe side

dagblatet,
I'll ask mi dad tomorrow. I know he always turns his off with the regulator even though it is a reasonably new one.
I expect it'll be because the pilot light remains alight though, and he is a Yorkshireman like me.
