Hello,
We have been caravanning for over 20 years but I have just joined the site, so please correct me if I am doing anything wrong!! I am not sure if I am in the correct place for the topic or not!!
I have just purchased a second hand status 530 aerial off eBay,
What I didn’t realise was that there is an older Purple logo version of the 530, and a newer orange logo version of the 530.
We used to have the status 315 aerial that, like most people found, was terrible! We decided to go for a 530
The one that I have now bought. apparently it came off a 2004 van, and as I said, has the purple logo underneath the aerial. I contacted Grade UK, to ask what the difference is between the purple and orange sticker aerials, and apparently the purple aerials have the amplifier built into the aerial head, and the newer orange 530’s have it in the power pack. I tried to ask the man why the change, but he didn’t seem as though he wanted to say! I asked him if the change was to do with signal, but he just said it was a change in the design. Why change the location of the amplifier if there isn't a problem with it??
When asked, he did say that there would be little difference in performance between the older purple 530’s and the newer 530’s
The question that I have for everyone is, does anyone have any experience with the purple logo status 530 aerials? The one I have bought cost £80 Inc delivery and is 2004? Do they have very good signal compared to the new orange logo status 530's.
We are just looking for something that we can get good television reception with, after the useless 315 aerial!!
I know I have gone on a bit, but it’s my first time!! I would greatly appreciate and advice, I don’t want to cut a hole in the roof, only to find that the purple logo aerials are little better than the 315’s
Thanks again
We often got indifferent results from the Status 315 although sometimes a perfect picture. One thing I noticed was that we got better pictures on digital if we were using a TV with a built in digital receiver rather than a set top box. Although we now have a caravan with the 530 aerial we don't use it much as we now have a satellite system because we spend quite a bit of time abroad and if we go to UK sites that don't have a TV hookup we tend to use the satellite rather than the aerial. Not much help you your question, sorry.
