Morning folks.

Has anyone spotted any good deals on EHU powered heaters? Any recommendation on the type to get ...

Something smallish in transit would be good.

I use a 2kw fan heater that has 2 power settings (1kw and 2kw), cool air function, frost protection and variable thremostat.
Never had to use it on 2kw - 1kw and the heat set at about 1/2 is more than enough to heat the Ontario 8.

Paid £2 for ours from a car boot sale during a particulalry cold October trip away.
Argos sell cheap fan heaters similar to ours for around £10-£15

Thanks Helen.

That looks nice and safe. Not expensive either.

Would you say 2KW power is pushing it on the EHU load?

And do you find the sound of a fan heater annoying if you're trying to sleep? When we're using our EHU coolbox we often turn it off at night so we can get that proper camping silence ... until the birds start up, obviously ...

Cheers Tony.

It's the usual camping MO I'm after: excellent performance, packs nice and small, and a bargain price.

Looks like I'm going to have to compromise on something ...

Netto are selling De Longhi oscillating fan heaters for £19.99 at the moment. Has safety cut-out in case it falls over (useful when camping!) and is super quiet. I just bought one as my old heater sounded a bit like a jet engine.

Thanks kar.en.

So it looks like the fan heaters are quite a bit cheaper than the other options.

Maybe a fan heater for the living area, and a silent oil-filled radiator for the bedroom.

What about this argos one for the OFR? Is 40 quid a good deal? I've never looked at these kind of things before so I've got no idea. It looks quite small, it's got a 1KW output, thermostat, only 1 heat setting .... any thoughts anyone?

Whether it will trip the bollard depends on the site supply and what else you're using at the same time.
On the 1kw setting we also run the Outwell Tauri light and our mini fridge and have never had a problem on a 10amp supply.

I'm one of these people who like their bedroom to be really quiet at night but I actually quite like the gentle hum of the fan heater and it actually helps lull me to sleep, so no I personally don't find it annoying.

I was staying in a static weekend just gone and at one point in the morning all the statics and many of the tourers lost power. Despite the caravan ring main being on a 32AMP breaker doesn't seem that the sites system was man enough for it all! I was probably partly to blame for this blackout by putting on the electric kettle at the same time as a 2kw heater

My wife bought a small DeLonghi ceramic heater for her beauty room to raise to temp if necessary for the odd client.

We then took this away with us for camping and found it to be brilliant. The one she bought was only about £19.00 at the time from Argos and the model now sold in there seems to be far more sophisticated (and expensive).

Thanks everyone - there's lots here for me to be getting on with. I may even brave some cold weather camping if I can have a nice warm tent to sleep in
