We have the Fiamma canopy and use it on both sides of the van (not at the same time)
You have to guy it the second that you erect it as it loves lying on the roof with its legs in the air.
Have a look at my profile pics
The side sheet in the pic is not usually used but at £6 for two (Gazebo side) it keeps the sun off when its very hot.

Thanks John! What's it like when it's a bit windy?

It depends which direction
On the site in the pic for four weeks it was very windy but we didn't need to take it down once
On other sites we have shortened the front telescopic legs and in very severe weather we have put it away (2mins) or not put it up in the first place
We use cheap ratchet tie downs on each pole

We have used our 3 metre Fiammi in all weathers but after 3 seasons its starting to look its age . In Heavy rain you need a good slope on it otherwise the water will collect in a large pool . The fabric on ours has stretched so much that the side braces are on the last locking hole position . Weve left ours up in high winds without a problem the secret is in keeping it well guy roped down . We use Guy ropes & an awning strap . The most likely time your likely to cause damage is when setting it up or packing it away - always make sure you get a set of helping hands , Ive seen several vans damaged cos the owners tried erecting / dismantling it on his own !

So far no damage erecting or dismantling on my own as needs must
If help is available great
Can be a conversation piece when high winds spring up.
