We had the same problem. Set up times where taking longer than the time it took to put up the tent. We bought the Outwell Richmond to use a larder. It takes 2 mins to put up and has large storage areas. Instaed of putting a cooker on the top we use it as a table for preparing food and sit the kettle on it.

The problem with most of the new gear is that it is folding and as such is much bulkier and heavier than the older tube and knuckle type of units that slotted together. The Outwell range is now all folding with solid tops which in some ways is better but as I said space and weight are its downfall. If you still plan to go this route though its worth finding a branch of THE RANGE they sell an unbranded range of units that are just as well made as the big name brands at more sensible prices.

I got my storage sorted out for longer stays by using a set of plastic drawers, the narrow type with four drawers in it. I know Homebase are selling some for about £15 at the moment and they seem sturdier than most. I don't dismantle them, I just lift them out of the shed with their contents in place and it fits into my hatchback.

Then I have a Royal 'wardrobe', which is a unit with shelves and a mesh door on the front. It has a roll type slatted top which I put the kettle on. The unit is 90cm tall which is the similar to a kitchen worktop height so it helps my back.

For small things I have a small toolbox, the cutlery goes in the bottom and the compartments are full of satchets of salt, pepper, red sauce etc. I just keep it on top of the plastic set of drawers.

On short stays I use the old fashioned laundry bags with the zip up top. I use two of them and keep them at the side of the tent. One for food and the other for crockery. I still use the toolbox for weekends as it's always packed too.

I have the same and think it's brilliant - the shelves are integrated and the whole things folds and unfolds in literally seconds, and just the right height too.
