Looking for a dish to use with a freesat receiver.Would anyone recommend Satgear or Mercury dishes other than the usual Maxview omnistat. We tour the Highlands of scotland and fully understand we require a 60cm + dish size.
I think you will find it more convenient to buy a dish with a folding LNB arm. Satgear sell the Comag receivers which are quite compact if space is at a premium.
Have a look at the Attisat FL500, it's a Flatt Plate antenna, and back in 2004 as part of a field test for Sky, I took it as far North as John O'Groats, were it performed perfectley even on a rainy cloudy day.
Very well made, and robust, ideal for lugging around.
Alternativley, if looking for a regular Dish, avoid Steel, and the Mesh type like the Sky Zone two models, fine on the side of your house, but made for touring.
What you need is a Aluminium Dish, one of the best makes I ever came accross were from the German company Technisat, but any Aluminium Dish should do the job.
