I've got the tent - Vango  6 person 

Iv'e got two inflatable beds.

I've got a wife and two kids.

I'm not so happy about the last one.

I'm thinking of starting off with just camping on weekends. What would you consider to be essential to a comfortable trip. What could you really not go without. I literally have nothing but the above 3, so essentially i'm asking you to compile a shopping list and its got to fit in a Ford C-Max. there is an option for a roof box.

something to cook on

something to eat from

light source

blankets or throws incase it gets  a bit chilly at night

something to sit on

I wouldnt go without EHU! next the kettle or a bottle opener!!

You still need the basic essentials: 

Sleeping Bags, Stove, Pots, Plates, Cups, Cutlery, Chairs, Torches/Lantern, mallet, cool box (not just for beer), wash up bowl, matches, batteries and then some spares.

Not so essential but you'll want when you get there:

Windbreaker, camp kitchen, table/s, radio, extra blankets/throws, pillows, more beer, sense of humour, and the ability to eat humble pie when you shout at the wife cos you can't put tent up right
