Have been thinking of buying a Cadac Safari Deluxe HP. As we don't have EHU thought it would be a good way of making more versatile meals. It looks nice and compact and wonder if any of you have first hand experience of them.
We have one, the lp version, and I love it! It worked well for the 4 of us in France last year. We only used that for 9 days, nothing else. Did not cook very quickly, not as quick as at home, but we were relaxed and not in any hurry.
Did not too as well in Weymouth but the weather was awful and we were trying to cook for friends too!
So would say it was excellent for the 4 of us, as long as not under pressure to produce a meal too quickly.
Thanks, Jusy. Have read some of the threads and there are very mixed feelings. Think it has put me off somewhat.Might leave it for a while and see if I can get a cheapy one off ebay.
I know it is nothing like the safari but I have a "Cadac 2 cook" and I can say that the quality of the unit is second to none. I bought mines to replace an aging Hi Gear double burner and a portable Royal gas bbq which was beginning to flare up(not good in the tent!) It has a skillet plate and a grill plate which can be used in any configuration with the 2 burners ie one burner and a plate or 2 burners or 2 plates. The plates are aluminium coated with teflon. They are taking a good bit of abuse (I'm not the worlds greatest outdoor cook!) I reckon if the safari is built to the same standard then go for it!
I have a cadac eazichef and its definitely the best bit of kit I have ever bought. I use it for virtually every meal. Nothing in this world compares to a hearty breakfast cooked on th griddle!!!

We have the easychef and the safari (LP). I love both and on both have cooked a host of stuff from roast chickens to re-heating curries and cooking part-baked bread. We take the safari chef if only away for a weekend as the easychef is a bit bulky but for longer trips happy to sacrifice the space to take the easychef.

well this must be a first, a thread on Cadac's and not a mention of the Cobb. Has the Cobb had its day????????
I have a Safari Chef HP, and rate it highly except for its inability to function as a BBQ to my liking.
I have not been able to get it hot enough to cook as a BBQ, and food takes ages to cook.
However, it is great for anything else: fry up using the flat plate, stir fry using the lid as a wok, grill using the rippled plate, mini oven for garlic bread etc...
The LP version is apparently better for use as a BBQ.
Would I consider getting the LP version? Probably not, as I do not like the idea of lugging a gas bottle with me in the car.

We have a Carri Chef Deluxe which we use in our awning but is probably the only piece of kit that remains from our tenting days. Its a great piece of kit which we would replace at the drop of a hat if needed.
