We've bought a Cadac Safari Chef to use in France and Italy and after reading advice here we've also bought a quick release fitting (both parts).  We want to be able to store the pipe away from the gas bottle and not have to keep taking it off and on the regulator.

Our regulator comes out of the propane and is a tail that you push a hose onto and secure with a jubilee clip.

The Cadac has a screw connector that has a tail that you push a hose onto and secure with a jubilee clip.

We realise that we must have to attach the quick release fitting female section to the bottle of gas somehow and the quick release fitting male section to the end of the hose from the Cadac.

However, the end of the quick release female section is a 1/4 inch BSP screw on connector and we have nowhere that such a connector will screw onto!

The connector looks like this:

133

Where do we connect the 1/4 BSP screw fitting to?  I stood staring at the parts for a good few minutes at the weekend before realising there's something missing (or extra).

Any help appreciated.

Hi. Don't know for sure, but I would suspect this is for a permanent fitting somewhere. The ones I've seen look more like THIS, which has fittings for a length of hose on either end. By the way, I've just put this up as an example. May be cheaper elsewhere.

Yes you have the wrong parts. I have just bought a safari and had to figure out what to do. First you need the screw adaptor that fits onto the safari (you can get from a cadac site) then put about 1 metre off pipe onto it with the male part of the quick release onto it. Next connect 1 metre of pipe onto gas regulator onto it connect the female part of the quick release. There for ,you can disconnect the regulator when you are packing things away. Also if you have a gas stove you repeat what you did to the safari and you can inter change between them. Sorry if I made this sound difficult. It's not really . Hope this has helped.........
