I use an E-go motor mover with which I am very pleased. However I find my cheapo B&Q 14.v4 rechargeable electric drill drains quickly if I use it to wind the mover on or off particularly at the point the driver rollers are in contact with the tyres and I am winding on to get grip. This means resorting to the winding handle. I am thinking of getting a better drill which would also be a benefit for occasional DIY activity at home. Does anyone hava any particular recommendations eithout going silly in price terms?
I have (nearly) a full set of Ryobi one+ tools. They make about 3 or 4 drills for some reason, and the advantage is that all the tools share the same battery and when you can take the battery out of the drill, plug it into the jigsaw, then the hedge trimmer, then the circular saw etc it makes life so much easier as only one set of batteries and charger to worry about.
Had them over two years now and not let me down once. Not quite as cheap as you might want though, but if you're going to building your collection, worth thinking about
------------- Half Empty or Half Full, it doesn't matter..it simply means there is room for more beer in your glass!!
Sorry I am a Festool man, you don't want to know the price - German engineering at it's expensive best.
The problem you will have with many of the cheap drills is low battery capacity. In your case the cheapest option might be a second battery, although I have seen the situation where batteries are more than drills!
You need a drill about 18v with 2 batts to be on the safe side.Ive been using a draper 18v and though it might be considered cheap it does the job,had it 4 years now.
Have a look at screwfix.co.uk and wait for a bargain to come up. As someone else said look for something at 18v with two or more batteries. Li-ion are the best but more costly and obviously the better brands are Makita and DeWalt but again are more expensive. I would avoid the really cheap stuff tho as they wont last.
I'm lucky as I'm a builder and take one of my wory drills with me for the same job but the stuff I buy for work is a bit extravagant for occasional use in your caravan. Happy shopping!
We have been very happy with our Black & Decker 14.4v. I do have two batteries though, but have only very rarely needed to swap when I have just let it run particularly low. I reckon I've have mine for about 4 years and it works absolutely fine. We only use ours for the corner steadies, though. Used to use screw in pegs for the awning, but gave up on that - thought they were more bother than they were worth. Your motor mover must be completely different to ours - we just have to engage ours by using one turn of a socket spanner.
