You lovely lot are so fab, I'm after another bit of advice!
We can't afford to buy a kitchen set up this time around, but need a table of some sort. We're thinking of getting a simple stand for the hob (got an eye on one in go outdoors in the sale next week, so that's worted), but would like a decent height table for food prep and eating next to (and board games!). Decent height for camping chairs that is!
We'd also love it to fold down as small as possible (who wouldn't!) - as we've already bought a lovely new big tent AND a posh double height airbed, and I'm worried about space in the car as it is!! lol
Any advice or recommendations would be great. Doesn't have to be HUGE, just usable!
We have had an array of tables but have finally settled on the aluminium roll top ones. Ours are hi gear ones and can't remember how much we paid for them, but they fold into a long thin bag, similar to a tube I suppose. I aren't describing this very well am I!
This is the single one but we have the double one as well. They aren't particularly cheap although i don't remember paying that much for them, must have been a 20% off day. I really like them and are so much easier to pack than a flat table with fold down legs.
It's a bit low for food prep if you're standing up but it's still usable, and it's exactly right for sitting down at. It packs down to about the size of one and a half normal camping chairs - it's the same length but wider, if you see what I mean. Just don't leave it out in the wind with your kettle on top and nothing to weight the legs down - I don't think the next tent over liked me much when it all went crash in the middle of the night
The only advise I would give on tables is to buy one with adjustable legs if possible as pitched are never flat, unfortunately they are more expensive.

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
I know that you aren't looking for kitchens but I thought I'd post you what I use and love, it's great for the cooker, food prep and a bit of storage but doesn't cost the earth, I've used mine for the past 10 years Sunflair American camp kitchen
I recently bought a Kampa colonel field kitchen which is great. A place for your cooker, another part to prepare etc and a shelf underneath. Even got a rack with hooks to hold your utensils. Erects really easily and quickly and Folds down flat and has it's own carry bag. You can get it for just a few £'s more than a table. From as little £35.99. Google it and see.
We've got the large Vango aluminim roll top table and it's really good. It's rock solid and has 1 adjustable leg, which is really all you need. Depending on our circumstances, we either leave it in the extension for food prep, or have it inside the tent for games etc. We've had it 3 years and are really impressed with it.
It folds into it's own bag which is about 8" x 8" x 3 ft. I also bought a piece of plastic tablecover to fit and roll that in the bag with the table.
Keep an eye on Kampa ebay shop as they often have returns and seconds. Last year I got two tables with adjustable legs for £10 and two camp kitchens for another £10. both were new but the table leg brackets needed re screwing and the camp kitchens needed plastic washes fitting where the legs pivot (they also come in very nice carry cases!).
