Just purchased 0ur first family tent and all booked for Tregarton park, cornwall. I want to upgrade my pegs i've been looking at the aluminium y peg cleats £3.98 for 6 seems a good price, has anyone used these and do they live up to what they claim or should i just stick to normal rock pegs ?
You won't go far wrong with normal rock pegs. I use this type
I must admit I was struggling to understand what you meant by 'y' peg cleats but then found this website for Clamcleat 'Y' pegs.
I have not seen these before and wondering how the guy rope stays on them as the little notch at the top doesn't seem very deep, and what the length of cord is for. I think I would go for the rock pegs personally.
Those clamcleat pegs are excellent as main guy pegs on smallish tents. For a family size tent they are a bit too small for the main guys and overkill for anything else. As Bob61 says, get a set of rock pegs but also make sure you've got enough strong steel 'V' pegs for the main guys.

There doesn't seem to be anything to stop the guy just sliding off the top. The notch isn't deep enough to keep the guy 'hooked' on and it appears to me that if your were to hammer the peg in too deep the soil would just push the guy straight off the top.
I too concluded the little cord was just for pulling the peg out, maybe by hand rather than with a peg extractor.
We make a puller for another company that use a similar peg but it's not on our site. Just a thought if your cord breaks.
