 we have  purchased two hi gear recliners and these are fantastically comfortable and rock steady. they were a bit more money but you get what you pay for !

Argos do some fairly comfortable cheapy recliners for around £27 each.

The reviews on them though refere to last seasons stock, and arnt very favourable, but when you collect them from the shop they are of a different design and supplier and much stronger. We have a pair of them that came in a grey colour and are quite pleased as they are quite comfy and good value for money.

Whatever you decide to buy, I would suggest going into a store and trying them out first. Recliners are great for reclining, but we find them quite awkward to use when sitting at a table for a meal (others may find them fine though).  Perhaps you are taking other chairs as well, but for us, weight and space is a factor.

We manage with a chair like this, but it doesn't have a footrest.  There are similar chairs where you can buy a seperate footrest which slide in or attach to the front cross bar (underneath the seat).

Julia, do the ones you've got from Argos also recline as well as having the footrest?
