We use an led awning strip light that we had when we had the caravan and it works a treat, and because it doesn't get hot it can be attached to the tent by the toggles that roll the doors up.
I must admit though, I do miss the hiss of a gas lamp, especially in the evening when you are relaxing with a book and a mug of hot chocolate!
