We have a shower in our caravan but we have no idea how to use it! We have a round barrel for water.....but what else do we need? Also Ive heard that showers get mouldy if you use them, is this true and how can you prevent it?

Im presuming you have the pump for the round barrel ? ( it connects from the socket outside the van to the barrel )

We use our shower all the time ,you should be fine so long as its in good condition and well sealed  ,you just make sure you open the vents in the bathroom  when showering and for a while afterwards and always squeegy /dry down the whole area afterwards .We like to have the hot air blown heating on when showering ( even when its not cold ) just so it circulated and drys the bathroom out faster .
Oh and dont leave wet things in the bathroom ) towels ,flannels etc .we dry ours outside or in the awning :)

Edited to add ,if you have never used the shower  it would be an idea to flush it out with a dose of Puriclean ( or something similar ) first .

Thank you.

So should the pump come with the barrel or be fitted in the caravan and then we put it in the barrel?

The pump comes with the caravan, but it depends on the van as to the type of pump.

A submersible pump looks like a cylindrical white unit on the end of a (usually) light blue pipe, which you put into the water barrel.  You should recognise it because of the connection on the other end of the blue pipe which fits onto the side of the van.

Some vans have a onboard pump but you still should have a blue pipe to put into the barrel and fit to the inlet on the side of the van.  Some of these pipes look exaclt like the submersible pump, but instead of the pump (because it is onboard) there is a white cylindrical filter.

If you have a new/new to you van, check all the cupboards inside the van - you should have something that fits.  If not you will need to get one from your caravan dealer.

Hope this helps.

You will also need a waste barrel to catch the spent water.
