just got a campingaz "lumogaz" lantern and tried to burn the manlte as per insructions, but it did notgo black/sooty and brittle as expected.

lots of matchs and a blister later still nothing, looks like a small golf ball, i thought it shrunk and clung to the spike.

i tried it out any way and it seems to work ok, giving out good glow and adjusting.

so am i good to go?

can i use lamp inside tent if vents open?

finally are the cadac gas cartridges compatible or do only the campingaz fit

small golf ball sounds good. They do normally go black for a second or so.

light it is the easiest way .
i have always burnt of mantels by lighting them with the gas slightly on.
result a nice globe of mantel ,burning them off without gas and you can get a smaller mantel ,smaller = less light

The Cadac cannisters won't fit. They are EN417 standard. Campingaz are their own thing I'm afraid.
