Well the Obelink tarps are good value... http://www.tent-tents.com/search.asp?pagina=1&search=1&zoektekst=tarp but I don't know if you would call them cheap.

Also Google Decathlon tarp and Vango adventure tarp.

Thanks Alahol2, is that what you have on your gallery photos? It does look good. Problem is they all come with poles which we have already got, doesn't anywhere just sell the tarp?

Hi, yes my tarp is this one... http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Hypercamp-Cotton-Tarp/1736 which is quite large at 3.75 metres square.  I am not aware of any 'cheap' tarps that are sold without poles.  Certainly some of the ultra-lightweight 'technical' tarps don't come with poles because they are intended for bivvying etc.  Prior to the Obelink tarp we had a cheap Lidl/Aldi tarp which only cost around £10 complete with poles.

Note that most tarp poles are 2+ metres long to give sensible standing headroom.  The Obelink poles are 2.3 metres (7.5 feet).

Get one with poles, you will probably find you can often have a use for spare ones or use all 4, one at each corner.  Or just to pole out the tent door.

Hi

We use a Quechua-Tarp

It does come with two poles but we added two king poles and it's much much better with four poles. We paid £24.99 from Decathlon

It's not cotton but I can't praise it enough.
