Has anyone used or know anyone who has had a quartz awning heater. They say they heat through infa red and heat the person not the air?!? We need one so the dog doesn't freeze in the awning at winter. Seen them here when googling for a heater http://www.laleisure.co.uk/750w-carnival-quartz-heater-84-p.asp. Would like some views on this.
Someone posted on here that some sites do not allow these heaters on safety grounds. They are also very bright and you would have to aim it at your dog for it to work! A cheap convector may be better, and generally come with a thermostat and some with a tilt cut off. We did have one in our old, huge trailer tent and I wasn't happy with it at all.
We hired some halogen heaters at work once whilst the central heating was on the blink. I wasnt impressed, they are very bright, you can only feel them if you are directly infront of them, you feel nothing to the sides or behind, and too close will easily set combusible materials on fire. Also they tend to be upright so in a camping situation could easily fall over. I would prefer a fan or convector, we use a fan heater.
